If You Replace a Garrison Building Do You Have to Upgrade It Again
Table of Contents
Garrisons play a major office in Warlords of Draenor. They are not optional, meaning that yous must build i to progress through the introductory quest line of your faction in Draenor and unlock the rest of the continent. Your Garrison is designed every bit a central hub for everything the expansion brings.
The Garrison also gives you access to many rewards, like pets, mounts, vanity items, transmogrification gear, which nosotros are going to effort and list in an exhaustive manner in this article.
The principal change in six.ii is the addition of a shipyard to your Garrison. It works in very much the aforementioned manner as your mission table, in that you can build ships, transport them on missions, and go rewards. Almost all of the new Garrison rewards come from the shipyard, so we advise you to read our Shipyard guide.
There is likewise a change that nearly players will welcome and that does not appear in the patch notes. Y'all can now skip the completed mission animations at the mission tabular array by pressing space.
You can also acquired two new pets.
Finally, the quartermasters of your new factions in Tanaan Jungle, Hand of the Prophet and Vol'jin'southward Headhunters, sell Trade Agreement: Arakkoa Outcasts. This item costs 2,500 , requires revered reputation with the Arakkoa Outcasts, and increases the maximum size of your Garrison Cache to 1,000. This gives you a Garrison Enshroud that tin can concur upwardly to 1,000 Garrison Resource, assuasive y'all to empty it much less ofttimes (it takes most half-dozen days to make full up).
The chief change in 6.one is that Garrison with a Level three Town Hall will have ane of 5 new visitors come each twenty-four hours and offer a daily quest of a specific kind: Dungeon, Raid, Bounty, Relic, or Profession.
While doing any of these new quests, with the exception of profession quests, you have a chance to obtain an particular that allows y'all to summon i of the half dozen new raid or world bosses in your Garrison. Summoned raid or earth bosses have scaling wellness and are intended for 10-forty players. The bosses and the items needed to summon them are:
- Annihilon — Void Prison;
- Commander Dro'gan — Bloodied Iron Horde Imprint;
- Gaur — Runed Greatstone;
- Lady Fleshsear — Legion Beacon;
- Mage Lord Gogg'nathog — Arcane Highmaul Relic;
- Teluur — Eye of Oak.
Defeating all these bosses grants you the Principal and Commander achievement.
Finally, Sergeant Crowler (Brotherhood) and Sergeant Grimjaw (Horde) now allow you to spend your Garrison Resources on a number of useful items:
From the Patch Notes, there also is a vendor who is supposed to sell follower upgrades, then nosotros will get dorsum to you lot with more data once the Patch has been released.
3.
Unlocking Your Garrison
Your Garrison is unlocked almost immediately after starting in Draenor, in Shadowmoon Valley for Alliance players or Frostfire Ridge for Horde players. Y'all need to follow the main quest line and, after a few quests, you volition end upwardly with a Garrison Level 1 in which Billet Level 1 are built.
Garrison Resources are used to:
- build or upgrade Garrison buildings;
- ship followers on missions (some missions do earn you Garrison Resource instead, only they are rare, and so do not wait to make a profit);
- buy crafting reagents at the Trading Post;
- place Work Orders at the Dwarven Bunker / War Mill.
Garrison Resources are earned from:
- the Garrison Cache, which is an object located adjacent to your Town Hall that you unlock during the introductory quest line in your starting zone and that generates 1x Garrison Resource every 10 minutes (upward to a maximum of 500, one,500 with Trade Understanding: Arakkoa Outcasts);
- the Lumber Mill, where Work Orders can generate up to 120x Garrison Resources per day;
- the Trading Post, where Work Orders tin generate upwards to 180x Garrison Resources per day;
- completing quests in your Garrison (but they are not ordinarily repeatable);
- killing named mobs in Draenor.
If you lot but rely on your Garrison Cache for Garrison Resources generation, then yous are looking at 144 Garrison Resource per day. If you add Work Orders in either the Lumber Mill, so this number becomes 264, and if you lot add Work Orders in the Trading Post, it becomes 444. Upgrading all your Garrison building to Level three (the maximum) costs a bit more than 12,000 Garrison Resources, so it will take virtually a calendar month to get a fully upgraded Garrison.
As you tin can come across, Garrison Resources are very scarce, which is why you want to go through the introductory quest line on all your alts every bit presently every bit possible. This way, you will be able to log onto each of them every few days, to empty their Garrison Enshroud and requite you extra resources for when you will really get-go playing them. Also, rare mobs throughout Draenor give yous nearly 30 Garrison Resources when you impale them, then farming them can be a bang-up manner to develop your Garrison faster.
An important detail in your Garrison is your Garrison Hearthstone, which allows you to teleport dorsum to your Garrison. This item is on a different cooldown than your regular Hearthstone, which is important, because information technology means that you tin can set your Hearthstone in the town around which you are questing and easily teleport back and forth between that town and your Garrison.
If you lose your Garrison Hearthstone, speak with the Innkeeper in your Boondocks Hall to get a new one.
There are twenty buildings that you can build: 10 Small buildings, 5 Medium buildings, and 5 Big buildings. The size of a building is not an indication of how powerful or useful it is. Your Garrison has edifice plots of different sizes and a Small building can but be placed in a Small edifice plot, a Medium building tin just be placed in a Medium building plot, and a Big edifice can only exist placed in a Big building plot. This is probably meant to add together some constraints and force players to build different types of buildings (and non only Big buildings or just Modest buildings). Yous can manage your buildings by using the Architect Tabular array that you lot will find in your Town Hall. Each building y'all build is initially at Level 1 and y'all can upgrade information technology to Level 2, and then to Level 3, each time unlocking new perks.
You cannot destroy a building, but you can supervene upon a building with another one. In the Architect Table, drag the desired building and driblet information technology onto the building you wish to supercede.
After unlocking your Garrison, its Town Hall is Level 1 and you have building plots for a Big edifice (which is taken past the Billet) and for a Pocket-size building. As you lot upgrade your Boondocks Hall, you get more and more plots, as follows:
- Boondocks Hall Level 1: has one Small building plot and i Large building plot;
- Town Hall Level two: has 2 Small edifice plots, 1 Medium building plot, and 1 Large building plot;
- Town Hall Level 3: has 3 Small edifice plots, 2 Medium edifice plots, and 2 Large edifice plots.
Upgrading your Town Hall from Level ane to 2 costs 200x Garrison Resources, teaches you how to build all Level 1 buildings (except for the Salve Yard), and is done during Bigger is Better (Alliance) or Bigger is Improve (Horde). Both these quests require you to stop a good portion of the quest lines in the starting zone of your faction. Alliance players need to finish the quest line in the Twilight Glade, up to Chasing Shadows. Horde players need to finish the quest line involving Ga'nar'due south vengeance, up to The Eldest. Upgrading the Town Hall to Level 2 has no Level requirement and can exist done as soon equally yous go the quest.
Upgrading your Town Hall from Level two to 3 costs ii,000x Garrison Resources and is washed during My Very Own Castle (Alliance) or My Very Ain Fortress (Horde). Both these quests are given to you when you first visit your Garrison subsequently reaching Level 100.
We take guides for all the buildings. In the tabular array below, y'all will detect links to our guides (by clicking the buildings' names) and explanations regarding what each edifice does. If you want a quick guide that tells y'all how to unlock the 3 levels of each edifice, then you should read our guide to unlocking all Garrison buildings.
You acquire to build all Level 1 buildings when yous upgrade your Boondocks Hall to Level two, with the exception of the Salvage Chiliad. To upgrade buildings to Level ii and 3, y'all will starting time need to acquire blueprints. Some of these blueprints will simply be sold to you if yous have earned a specific achievement.

Garrisons are so tied with professions that nosotros decided to write profession guides with Draenor and Garrisons in mind:
- Draenor Abracadabra guide;
- Draenor Blacksmithing guide;
- Draenor Enchanting guide;
- Draenor Engineering science guide;
- Draenor Inscription guide;
- Draenor Jewelcrafting guide;
- Draenor Leatherworking guide;
- Draenor Tailoring guide;
Your build society depends heavily on what you intend to do with your grapheme, although things are more than or less set in stone until you reach Level 100 and build your Town Hall Level iii.
5.3.one.
Kickoff Small Building
Your commencement building will inevitably exist a profession building, because you cannot build a Salvage One thousand before Level 96. And so you have the choice between a edifice for one of your professions or the Enchanter's Study, which allows you to disenchant your BoP gear and make coin selling the disenchanted reagents (or using them to craft enchants).
5.iii.2.
Commencement Large Building
Your first Large edifice has to be the Billet, because yous demand to build them to progress through the introductory quest line. Once y'all become your starting time Comprehensive Outpost Construction Guide, you tin can purchase the plans for the Barracks, Level 2 in Ashran and upgrade your building, allowing you to benefit from having a bodyguard with you while in Draenor.
The Stables is also an option. Information technology tin provide you one,620 Garrison Resources over a period of 12 days, which is invaluable in the early stages of your Garrison. It also allows you to remain mounted while interacting with objects (such as when you harvest Timber for your Lumber Mill).
5.three.3.
Second Pocket-size Edifice
For your 2nd Small building, you can wait a few levels to have admission to the Salvage Grand, or yous tin build some other profession building.
5.iii.4.
Showtime Medium Building
You need a total of 12,950x Garrison Resources to upgrade all of your Garrison's buildings to Level three, and resource are actually scarce. Using the Garrison Cache lone, it would take you lot months to gather enough resources to build your entire Garrison (not even counting the resources you have to spend on follower missions). Then, nosotros strongly advise you to accept the Lumber Mill as your first Medium edifice, which you can update to Level two when you achieve Level 98 or obtain your Spires of Arak outpost. Once you accept almost everything to Level 3, yous can buy something else in its stead.
5.3.5.
After Upgrading to Boondocks Hall Level 3
Afterwards you unlock additional edifice plots with your Town Hall Level iii, y'all need to look for buildings that are actually useful to yous.
- If you programme on focusing on followers to gear yourself upward, and then y'all will need Billet, Dwarven Bunker / War Mill, Lunarfall Inn / Frostwolf Tavern, and Save Yard.
- If you plan on traveling through Draenor a lot, and so you volition need Billet, Stables, Mage Tower / Spirit Lodge, and Gladiator's Sanctum (for increase resources regeneration and safe fall / water breathing).
- If you lot plan on doing PvP, and then you will need Gnomish Gearworks / Goblin Workshop and Gladiator's Sanctum.
- If you plan to focus on professions, then you will need Barn (if you have Leatherworking and/or Tailoring) and Trading Mail service. Followers with all profession traits are available through questing in Draenor (simply scan through your follower list in-game), only if you accidentally re-rolled the traits of a profession follower, then y'all will need the Lunarfall Inn or Frostwolf Tavern to go a new follower with that profession trait.
The possibilities are countless, merely hopefully, the examples above have given you an thought of what to do.
5.4.
Edifice Achievements
In that location are a number of achievements related to Garrison buildings, which we list below.
In your Garrison, yous will find an empty monument stele, on which you lot can place one of 5 monuments. Each of them requires you to obtain a specific achievement.
Yous can find screenshots of the monuments on MMO-Champion.
5.six.
Garrisons Outposts in Draenor Zones
In Gorgrond, Talador, Spires of Arak, and Nagrand, you will build an Outpost for your Garrison during the master quest line of each zone. Your outpost tin take 2 different forms, so you lot need to make a choice and this choice cannot be inverse until yous reach Level 100 (at which point you can pay 5,000 to the outpost'south foreman to modify building). As of Patch 6.1, changing your outpost allows you lot to exercise the quest line associated with information technology (and earn extra followers).
Wowhead has a detailed write-up on the subject field, which we encourage you to read.
To sum information technology up, most of the Garrison outposts provide y'all a zone-wide buff or perk, so for the most part, you need to make the choice betwixt one buff/perk or another. Spires of Arak is different in the sense that you demand to brand a choice between a +twenty% feel bonus in Spires of Arak or vendors that sell yous interesting items, such every bit a follower contract or a toy.
Thanks to your Garrison, yous tin can recruit followers and ship them on missions, from which they come up back later a few hours with either gear, Gold, and other cool items.
You can take up to twenty active followers (25 with Barracks Level three). If you have more than twenty active followers, then you need to deactivate some, until you are left with only twenty active followers. If you take more than xx active followers, yous can not starting time follower missions. Deactivated followers can be reactivate for a fee of 250 . It then accept them 1 day to properly reactivate.
Followers can be recruited in Draenor. Some crave y'all to complete a quest and others tin be recruited when you obtain their contract (through quests, vendors, or follower missions). All of the followers that you tin can directly recruit in Draenor are shown in your follower window (either at the follower tab of the Mission Tabular array or when clicking the Garrison icon next to your minimap). There, you lot can find data about them: what abilities/traits they have and where you tin can recruit them. Y'all can also recruit followers from your Inn / Tavern, in which case, you can specify the abilities or traits you are most interested in. The Inn / Tavern is very useful for recruiting specific followers (for instance if you experience that yous do not have enough followers with a specific trait).

Invasions are scripted events that happen in your Garrison and require you to defeat a small invading army. Invasions happen later you have killed a high number of mobs from a Draenor enemy faction: Botani, Goren, Iron Horde, Ogre, Shadow Council, and Shadowmoon Association. The number of mobs you lot need to kill is not publicly known, but once you reach it, an army from that faction will invade your Garrison. The invasion takes the form of a scenario, in which you have to complete objectives in succession, such as killing a specific enemy or defending a position. Depending on how well/fast y'all completed these real-time objectives, you are given a score, which somewhen decides if you earn a Bronze (300 points), Silver (600 points), or Golden (1,000 points) rating.
For more information well-nigh invasions, we refer you lot to our Garrison Invasion guide.
